La Matanza de Acentejo is a peaceful area known for its winemaking tradition, where some of the best wines of the island are produced. The villa is located in a peaceful residential area with a few great restaurants within walking distance. In a few minutes, you’re on the main highway (TF-5) but there’s absolutely no noise or sight of it from the villa or garden.
The municipality has all the essential services such as supermarkets, weekend farmers market selling seasonal local produce (cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables, cakes, local honey, jams and the famous mojo sauce), excellent local restaurants and much more.
Less than 5 minutes’ drive away is the well-known Casa del Vino (wine museum) and Casa de la Miel (honey museum) where you can explore the rich cultural heritage of this famous Canary produce. Wine lovers can also explore nearby Bodegas Monje. The winery also hosts cultural, gastronomic and leisure activities uniting cultural trends with its rich heritage.
Tenerife has so much to offer for enthusiastic hikers and those looking for active holidays: volcano landscapes, picturesque canyons, subtropical pine and eucalyptus forests and fascinating mountain ranges. Explore the nearby La Orotava Valley, a Tenerife favourite, and climb through the “mar de nubes” (sea of clouds) to emerging views of Mount Teide and the dense pine forest stretching all the way to the volcano.
Your visit to Tenerife isn’t complete without a drive up to the unique landscape around and on the volcano Teide – Teide National Park – there are numerous trails around the base, a cable car to take you further up and stunning views and scenery the whole way up.
You will find a wonderful variety of beautiful beaches in the North of Tenerife that is easily accessible. The natural black lava sand bay of Bollullo is 15 minutes away by car. There is a beach bar on the beach and various good restaurants in the village. There are many other beaches to explore in the area and which we share with guests in our guest information booklet.
