This magical and unique cottage represents traditional Canary architecture and has been loving restored using high-quality materials and building techniques to maintain the original charm and tranquillity. This traditional rural house is like a museum of days gone by in Tenerife before the industrial revolution changed the way we live.
The living and dining room are the heart of the cottage. A cosy space to spend evenings playing board games next to the fire or relaxing reading a good book or watching a film. The TV has European channels and a USB port so you can plug in your device.
The sofa can also be used as a single bed, perfect for a third guest or ideal for families with children.
You’ll be welcomed by an artisan platter of local cheese, jam and organic free-range eggs, lovingly put together by your host Pilar.
The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to self-cater, including:
• Ceramic hob
• Fridge freezer
• Coffee press
• Washing machine (outside)
• Pots and pans
Sink into the superior double bed with its high-quality mattress, plump pillows and the finest bed linens in the oldest part of the house, dating back 600 years, with thick stone walls and views out to the garden.
The recently renovated bathroom has a large walk-in shower and complimentary self-care products.
Terrace and garden
You’ll have access to a beautiful garden, terrace, solarium and barbecue area with stunning views of the sea and mountains. Enjoy visits from friendly neighbours on the terrace, including birds, hens, cats and lizards – an animal and nature lover’s paradise.
Be at one with the simplicity, charm and harmony that the hamlet offers and enjoy breakfasts on the terrace and spend afternoons reading in the sun.
The local area
The village of Igueste de Candelaria feels like a rural escape from a time gone by but in fact, you’re only 10 minutes drive from the highway that connects to the rest of the island and to the closest town and beach (Las Caletillas/Candelaria).
Everyone says hello to each other in Igueste de Candelaria and even more so in the little hamlet in which is cottage is situated.
Drive 3.5km down to Las Caletillas or Candelaria and you will find supermarkets, banks, pharmacy, restaurants, parks, and more. There are plenty of different beaches to explore here too, as well as Playa la Nea and Radazul beach just 15 minutes’ drive along the coast.
Hiking lovers will adore the Camino Viejo de Candelaria, which is Tenerife’s version of the Camino de Compostela. The ancient path, which Tinerfeños have been walking in pilgrimage for the past five centuries goes from La Laguna to Candelaria across 21 kilometers. You can reach the path a few 100 meters from the cottage and there are hiking sticks available in the cottage for you to borrow.
We highly recommend that you hire a car for your stay so you can explore the beautiful island of Tenerife at your own pace. Private parking is available 20 meters from the house.
Local bus service runs every 30 min Monday to Friday to Candelaria.
